ListItRI.com Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to confirm my email address? Your identity (username) on our site is based on the uniqueness of your email address. To make sure that our users are giving us a legitimate address and not simply making one up we send out a confirmation email to the address you entered with instructions on how to complete your registration. I did not get a confirmation email. Why not? In 99% of all cases the confirmation email is sent within a few seconds after you complete the first part of the registration. This process is all automatic. If you do not get your email it is probably because of one of the following reasons: My confirmation number does not work. What can I do? First, make sure you are entering in the number correctly. The number is case sensitive so you must match it exactly with the number we send. If the system still fails to confirm your address send an email to webmaster@ListItRI.com and we will confirm your registration for you. I have registered and confirmed but every time I log in I get bounced back to the log in page - what's going on? Chances are your browser is set up to reject cookies. Our site uses cookies to identify you so you can securely add new and edit existing listing listings after you log in. We have a page to check your settings, along with more information about how it works at http://www.listitri.com/test_me.php I got an additional free listing authorization code and it does not work. Have I been ripped off? No. There is a problem with one aspect of our system and it sometimes rejects the free listing code. As this happens only once in a while we are having problems discovering the exact reason. If you have a problem redeeming your code please send us a feedback and we will authorize the code manually. We hope to have this problem solved very soon. I posted my free listing in autos and now I want to move it to General Merchandise. How do I do that? You can't. While you can select up to three categories in a listing area (and edit your listing to change those categories) you can't move your listing from one area to another. The reason stems from the fact that we collect different types of information depending on the area you choose so a listing in one area does not contain the same information it would need in another area. If you post your free 90-day listing in the wrong area send us a feedback (please note the title of your listing) and we will delete the listing from that area, and reset our database so that you can post a listing in the area of your choice. We ask that you make this request within a few days of when you first post the listing. Can you add a category for just Star Wars Figures or Elvis Impersonators or…? We have picked our categories in such a way to accommodate nearly everything you would like to list. We will not add new categories if we feel that it would be too narrow to attract more then one or two listings. That being said, you can always ask. We like to get input from our users and try as much as we can to answer their requests…. Just remember that sometime the answer is 'sorry, no.' Do you have any rules on what I can and can't list? Yes! Our posting guidelines can be found in our user agreement at http://www.listitri.com/member_agreement.php Can I buy advertising on your site? Our site is 100% advertising! Just buy a membership and advertise away! If you want to buy pop-up windows or banners - we don't sell them. Financially we are supported 100% by our members - we like it that way and they seem to as well. Is ListItRI.com owned by Cox Communications? This site is owned and operated by Vega Interactive, LLC. Cox is a promotional partner. How do I make my listing come out on top of the list in a category or a search? At this point all of our listings are ordered by newest listings first (although you can resort this list by clicking on the heading at the top of the list.) We may in the future offer preferred placement at or above the list for a nominal fee. We would like to know what you think, so please send us some feedback. I keep finding yard sales that are old and tickets for shows on your site that are stale. Can you get rid of them? We are aware of this problem - some members choose to list a yard sale or other such event that happens three or four weeks before their listing is due to end… the sale is over before the listing expires. We ask all of our users to please delete listings for events that have gone by and especially for things that are no longer for sale. We now have a special events area designed for yard sales, auctions and other things that are no longer of interest after a certain date. Our system will automatically expire the listings on the end date of the event. I got an email or a message from someone offering to buy my $25 Apple II computer for $3,000 - is this legit? No - it's a scam. We are really doing our best to filter these messages that are plaguing popular classified listing sites like ours. If you get any offer that is too good to be true, it is. And yes, we have notified the office of the Attorney General. Why don't you have a phone number on your site where I can call with questions? In order to control our expenses AND keep our fees low we promptly solve all customer service issues through our feedback tool. If we come across a problem that we cannot solve via email we will request a phone number and good time to call from our user and contact them as soon as possible. We understand that not having a phone number on our site is off-putting to some individuals - please send us an email with your concern and give us a chance to prove that customer service is important to us. I tried to upload an image and it said it was too big. What's the deal with that? We limit our images to 645 pixels wide by 600 pixels tall with a file size of no more than 75k - this is done for three reasons: My digital camera takes pictures that are larger than your minimums. Do I need to buy a smaller camera or something? No - but you may need to learn more about your camera and your computer. Chances are your camera came with software that lets you crop, or shrink your images. Many of these programs can even reduce the file size of your image though a process called 'optimization.' We recently came across this site: http://www.resize2mail.com/ which gives users a web based way of resizing images… while we don't know enough about this site to endorse it fully we did find that it worked… so if you are having problems you might wish to give it a try. We also suggest that you talk to your geeky friends, children or co-workers… resizing and manipulating images on your PC is really not that difficult - as with so many things computer related it sometimes just takes someone to show you how. You tell us! We look forward to reading your feedback. Last updated 6/20/2004 |
